I attended South Essex College to talk about graphic design and setting up and running my own business. It was great to meet with the design students; many are definitely graphic designers in the making.
I was really honoured and pleased to be asked. I enjoyed talking with the students about my experiences and challenges. They were all so passionate about design and reminded me of what I was like as a student.
Questions
They had lots of questions about graphic design and running a business.
I was asked, “What motivates you to do it day in and day out?” Good question, and the answer is easy: I love what I do. The rewards are worth all the hard work.
It was nice to see their interest in running a business and what was involved. Running your own business is difficult and requires a lot of hard work. A lot of time can be spent networking and marketing. If you put the hard work and effort in, then it is all worth it. I showed them my Thurrock Business Award that I won for New Company, which they were all impressed with.
Graphic Designers in the making
It was lovely to see the students show an interest not only in graphic design but in running a business. I hope that I have inspired the students to continue with design and have given them a little insight into the business world.
The future of design is in safe hands.
