International Women’s Day

International Woman's Day 2018

To celebrate International Women’s Day, I was invited to take part in two events. It was going to be a busy day!

The day started with an event hosted by NWES at The Old Courthouse. Palmer’s Solicitors started the presentations by talking about diversity and equality in the workplace. It was very interesting, with lots of interaction amongst the group.

My story

It was then my turn to talk about my journey as a business owner. I enjoyed creating my presentation and looking back at what I had achieved. I talked about how I became a graphic designer, and a business owner, setting up and running my own networking group as well as teaching classes at the gym.

The last presentation of the event was with Laura Kavanagh talking about how she became an entrepreneur and what inspires her.

This Girl Can

I then headed off to the next event, promoting This Girl Can as an Essex Ambassador.

This Girl Can is about getting people involved with fitness and encouraging people to get out and about. We had around 30 people sign up, wanting to know more and get involved.

Anyone can be an ambassador; you don’t have to be an athlete to get involved. It’s about being part of a group that encourages and motivates each other.

And finally

My day ended as it normally does on a Thursday evening: teaching my Pump FX and Spin classes at the gym with a brilliant group of people.

I am so lucky that I love what I do.
