We’re really pleased with the Love Grays branding project recently completed.
On Saturday 25th February there was a launch event for the Love Grays brand.
What is Love Grays?
Love Grays is a concept created by local businesses. The aim is to make Grays a better place for the community, businesses and residents. The Grays Town Management Partnership organised the launch event. It was a way to show people the progress made to make Grays a safer, cleaner and more vibrant place.
Our part in the process was to create the brand. The brief was to design a bright and colourful logo to appeal to the community of all ages.
We wanted the logo design to be flexible. We created different versions of the logo; horizontal/vertical and with/without the heart. All suitable for the web, print and social media.
We create brand guidelines for all the logos we design.
As the name includes Love we didn’t want to be too “twee” and go for a red heart and lettering. A red, pink and orange palette was used to create a watercolour effect rather than solid colours to soften it. Paint spots were added around the outside to add a little something extra.
The logo needed to appeal to all ages so we created a friendly, fun, flowing font.
We wanted to include a heart icon but didn’t want a classic heart so we put our spin on it. This can be used on its own in social media.
The day was full of events including Zumba, Bollywood dancing and an Open Mike stage and was a great way to bring the community together. My highlights were seeing Diesel, an 8-week old Alsatian puppy in training with the police. I also loved seeing my sister and Emma the co-ordinator, taking part in Bollywood dancing. There is photographic evidence so they will never forget it!
A postcard competition was run leading up to the launch. Students could draw what they loved about Grays. The winner had their drawing printed on the canvas bags. These were given away on the day with branded pens, flags and a stress ball. A great goodie bag which I will definitely put to good use!
It was a brilliant day and even though it was cold it didn’t keep people away. There was a great community spirit, which is exactly what Love Grays is all about.
This was an exciting project to work on and it’s great to see it launched and receive good feedback on the branding.
