Review of 2015

Review of 2015

It’s time for us to look back and review 2015.

It’s been another busy, exciting year working with our clients as well as taking on new clients. Our work has been varied, creating logos, branding, posters, flyers, brochures, exhibition stands, and even van and bus graphics. It certainly has been a great mixture, which is why I love what I do. The year started with two big branding projects that took us through to the middle of the year.

Projects

The first project was to design the rebrand for local estate agents Howgate and Kempster. They were changing their name to Kempsters and wanted their new brand to be strong while keeping in line with their existing image. We worked closely with them to create their logo, marketing materials, and sales brochures. We also designed the posters and imagery for the office. Flyers have been regularly created with their promotions, and it has been nice to see them drop through the letterbox! The client was very happy, and it’s great to see the new look as we walked into the high street.

Our second large project was to design the Palmer’s College Prospectus. I really enjoyed working on this project. As well as designing the prospectus, we were also involved with the photography and had a fun day working with the photographer, teachers, and students. This project had a tight schedule but was exciting to work on, and the finished product looks fab! We also designed the marketing materials, and the style of the prospectus worked well across all platforms. We created ads, posters, external banners, and even bus graphics!

Thurrock Network Group

The Thurrock Network Group is still going strong, with lots of new members joining us. Thank you to everyone who has supported the network group this year. I look forward to networking in 2016 at a new venue, The Old Courthouse in Grays.

Networking Events

I have attended some good events this year, including:

Brayley Honda opening day: This was to celebrate the opening of the Brayley Honda showroom in Grays. It was a good couple of hours meeting local businesses and networking.

South Essex College opening day: Prince Edward opened South Essex College and unveiled a plaque to commemorate his visit. I didn’t get to meet him, unfortunately, but I did manage to get a cheeky little selfie.

Networking on a train with Essex Chambers of Commerce: Networking on a train was a first for me! We started from Grays station, and everyone was allocated to a particular carriage. I was in the carriage sponsored by Heart. It was a different way to network, and I’m glad I took part.

Business and Education Summit: This event took place at High House Production, and the main aim was for businesses, schools, and colleges to get together, first for initial meetings, but then with the foresight to work together in the future. Schools had suggestions on how the businesses could help them (with work experience and apprenticeships, etc.), and the businesses were keen to make sure students had the right skill set when they finished their courses. It is going to be an ongoing project, but we all have the same agenda, which is for schools, colleges, and businesses to all work together to help students get work placements in the future.

Thurrock Business Conference: This yearly event is for businesses to hear what the Council has planned and is doing for local businesses. This event wasn’t as well attended as previous years, and the format was different, but it was a good day. We could choose a workshop to attend, and this helped to break up the day. There were good speakers, and it was great to see local businesses out and about.

Plans for 2016

The action plan for 2016 is in place. We have worked with some great clients this year and look forward to continuing to work with them in the New Year. We are looking forward to establishing new working relationships with new clients and getting stuck in on some exciting projects.

Collaboration projects were a new venture for us this year, and we thoroughly enjoyed working with other businesses. This is something we will be continuing in 2016.

It’s been a fantastic year for us with the launch of our new website, and we love it! It was good to set aside time to work on our project and to get it exactly as I wanted. It took time, but I am so happy with the finished result.

2016 is going to be an exciting year as we move into our new offices in January, and we can’t wait to see where the New Year takes us!
