How exciting! We had been nominated for a Thurrock Civic Award in the Business in the Community category. The event was at the Backstage Centre, High House Production Park.
The host for the evening was BBC Essex DJ Dave Monk, with 450 people in attendance, all dressed to impress!
We hadn’t been to the awards before, so we weren’t sure what to expect. The evening started with drinks and canapés before we all sat down for the awards.
All nominees were invited to the event. There were some inspirational people attending, and I loved meeting with them.
There were 11 categories in total. The judges had shortlisted the nominees for the final four in each category. I was delighted to hear dotty hippo design was named in the final four. Other companies in the category were HW Wilson, The Port of Tilbury and Maidstone. The Port of Tilbury were the winners.
There were some touching and inspirational stories, with many winners receiving a standing ovation. The Rachel Middleton award was incredibly moving. When the judges announced all four shortlists had won, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house!
Finalist
As a finalist, I had my photo taken and received a finalist certificate, which will join the others on our award wall in the studio.
What a great night to be part of! It was lovely to celebrate the fantastic people and businesses in Thurrock. What an honour to be nominated for an award too!
