The year has flown by, and it’s time for dotty hippo design to look back and review 2012.
Finalists
I started the year not only by being chosen as a New Company Finalist for the Thurrock Business Awards but also by winning the category! That has certainly been a highlight of this year, and my award takes pride of place in my new office. I was also a finalist at the Essex Business Awards. It is great to see so many businesses doing well in Thurrock.
New office
I was excited to move into my office at the end of the summer and took the opportunity to refresh the brand, giving the hippo an updated look. I am settled into the new surroundings and enjoy the hustle and bustle of Orsett Road, client visits, and visits from all the neighbours!
Thurrock Network Group
The Thurrock Network Group is still going strong, and it’s great to see new businesses coming along every month. I was given the opportunity to speak about the Thurrock Network Group at the Thurrock Business Breakfast in December. I have also been asked by Thurrock Council to sit on the business board as a representative of the Thurrock Network Group.
Work experience
I ended the year with a work experience student working with me for 2 weeks, and it was great to have an enthusiastic student who was keen to learn new skills and was a good addition to the team. It also highlighted to me why I do what I do because I love it!
Client projects
It has been an amazing year working on some great projects with some great clients. The client projects have certainly been varied! From working with new companies, creating logos, and establishing their brand to larger companies working on their marketing materials, including a rollout of a Christmas campaign for a hotel chain throughout the UK.
I pride myself on having great working relationships with all of my clients and strive to continue to do so into 2013.
Objectives
I will continue with my objectives:
• Learn from mistakes and turn them into a positive.
• Continue to make notes and lists all the time and think about ways to improve.
• Remember to pat myself on the back when I have achieved great results.
• Never stop learning.
• Continue to push myself, experiment with new ideas, and step out of my comfort zone.
So, after a successful 2012, let’s look forward to a busy, exciting, and profitable 2013!
